Time will tell.

In the meantime, RicRod had 2 catches last week for 35 yards.

Actually I think Jones could be a blue in this grading scheme. Maybe acqua. But if he is really a Red, TT will have to pay $5 mil + and TT refused to do that before. In the meantime Jones also had only 2 catches last week.

Yes, time will tell. And when it is time for Montgomery and Adams and Cobb to be healthy, Jones will not be playing very much. Since he is too much of a prima donna to play ST, he probably won't eve be active.

I guarantee James Jones will be active and starting every game this year regardless of the health of Cobb, Adams, and Montgomery. He is a top WR in the league right now.

What reason is there to hate James Jones?

This got off the topic of our TE, but james jones is just what the dr ordered for the packers. he is playing at a high level and fits great with AR and our system. We would be hurting without him. I look forward to Adams coming back and making us that much stronger.

this color stuff can be looked at in many ways but Jones is not a red. I look at it like this. If you could have any WR in the league who would you take. I would take at around 10 right now to pair with AR. prob more if I put some thought into it. That is not a knock on Jones and what he is doing and the plays he is making, but there is better WRs in this league. Many of them don't get to play with AR either, so stats aren't as important when it comes to these guys.

Mr Jones was born to be a packer!!

James Jones so far this year:
#8 rated WR according to PFF
#2 rated WR in DYAR and #1 rated WR in DVOA
#21 in total yards
#2 in yards per reception
#2 in 20+ yard receptions
#1 in TD receptions
#9 in yards per touch among all players
#1 in 25+ yard receptions

I don't think anyone is arguing the numbers. Kinda hard to agrue stats. But I don't think anyone will tell you he is a better player then Julio or Green or Brown or D hop

Everyone agrees with that, but he certainly is performing as a top 10 WR this season.

Well, of course. These 3 WRs are elite WRs. I'm sure you'll agree we'd be in trouble if we didn't get JJ. He may not be wonderful but he's worth a lot to us and that is what is important.

I didn't see the game (I listened to WIBA online cuz we don't get the B1G Network here unless we pay extra). Did Houston look as good as it sounded?

I wouldn't say he was great but He controlled the O way better then Stave imo. good play calling helped. He had a bad pick late but overall I would hope we roll with him the rest of the way . (I don't think they do)

I'd say Jones is a top 10 WR in terms of efficiency. However, I wouldn't say he is a top 10 WR in the NFL.

He doesn't get open enough, as indicated by his being outside the top 60 in receptions while playing on a team that is depleted at WR.

In fact he's tied at #63 with:

Jamal Charles
Lance Dunbar
Matt Forte
Jermaine Kearse
Demarco Murray
Shane Vereen

and our favorite tight end....

Richard Rodgers

A correlation that is not necessarily accurate. Receptions are just as much due to the amount of passes total on offense and ball distribution. The Packers are 23rd in passes attempted.

I don't disagree, but for all the talk about Jones being a top 10 NFL WR, I thought he'd at least have more receptions than the tight end that we're all calling average at best.

You made a good case for his efficiency. I'm glad Jones is on the team, but I don't think it is ridiculous to question the notion that he is top 10.

How can you say that JJ is a top 10 WR? Stats don't tell the whole story. Come on man! JJ is serviceable and because he is a Packer veteran, he has the trust of AR. You think other teams worried about JJ when he first joined our team. You notice his numbers going down? What is that trend? Cobb would be considered (by stats) a Top 10 WR if he wasn't blanketed this year.

edit:

I will tell you something to watch for. JJ's numbers in the last 2 games went down for obvious reasons. Now, after we get back Adams and Montgomery, you may see a slight climb in his production again. It's normal ebb and flow. Throwing the ball to a WR who you know will catch the ball, and be in the right spot, but may be covered by the dime-back or safety, is just smart. What JJ has always lacked in speed, he's made up for in great routes and hands.
