Ty Montgomery - Injury Update

The x-ray on #Packers WR Ty Montgomery's knee came back negative, a source said. Great news given what the injury initially looked like.

Of course, I thought it was his ankle...

That's great. But the onfield reporter said the injury was actually the ankle. Was she mistaken?

Why would they X-Ray a knee? They'd MRI it to check for ligament damage. They'd X-Ray an ankle to check for fractures? Am I right here?

The in-stadium update called it an ankle injury.
The Packers lunatic fringe is more visible because of sheer numbers. The Packers have one of the largest fan bases in all of sports. If the fringe percentage is the same as with other teams, then we end up with larger volumes of nut jobs. - JustJeff

It definitely looks like a knee on the play, not an ankle.

The reporter acknowledged that it was ankle rather than knee which tells me the ankle being injured was a surprise to all.

It looked pretty bad by watching replays.

Everyone is saying ankle, but from replaying it, it really does look like the left knee buckles in. Ankle doesn't look like it twists at all, but foot gets stuck in turf by helmet to shin, then he gets pushed the opposite way. The aftermath looked bad but the actual movements that caused it don't look bad.

You're correct. An xray is basically useless for a knee, and an ankle too. If there is a dislocation or fracture the Dr will already know.

The MRI will tell. I'm hoping it's an ankle so he can return this year.

Will Donald Driver come out of retirement? Greg Jennings playing for anybody?

Adams will be back after the bye. Adams is an upgrade over Monty.

"All test on WR Ty Montgomery's ankle come back negative. According to multiple reports, return timetable TBD".

That's about as good as it can get, I think.
