Paco first round mock #2

Postby paco » Fri Mar 20, 2015 5:42 pm

I was going to add a Packer's full mock to this as well, but I'm having a really hard time with it. Right now, I hate the 3rd round. Having a hard time finding a fit. So here's another attempt at the 1st round.

1. Tampa Bay - Jameis Winston, QB
2. *TRADE* Cleveland - Marcus Mariota, QB
Tennessee gets #12 and #19 from Cleveland
3. Jacksonville - Leonard Williams, DT
4. Oakland - Kevin White, WR
5. Washington - Dante Fowler, OLB
6. NY Jets - Vic Beasley, OLB
7. Chicago - Amari Cooper, WR
8. Atlanta - Randy Gregory, DE
9. NY Giants - Brandon Scherff, OT
10. St. Louis - La'el Collins, OT
11. Minnesota - Shane Ray, LB
12. Tennessee - Danny Shelton, DT
13. New Orleans - Bud Dupree, Edge
14. Miami - DeVante Parker, WR
15. San Francisco - Marcus Peters, CB
16. Houston - Dorial Green-Beckham, WR
17. *Trade* Cincinnati - Malcom Brown, DT
Bengals trade up to 17 from 21 with San Diego.
18. Kansas City - Jaelen Strong, WR
19. Tennessee - Landon Collins, S
20. Philadelphia - Shaq Thompson, LB
21. San Diego - Todd Gurley, RB
22. Pittsburgh - Trae Waynes, CB
23. Detroit - Ereck Flowers, OT
24. Arizona - Ronald Darby, CB
25. Carolina - D.J. Humphries, OT
26. Baltimore - Arik Armstead, DT
27. Dallas - Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE
28. Denver - Jake Fisher, OT
29. Indianapolis - Cameron Erving, C
30. Green Bay - Kevin Johnson, CB
31. New Orleans - Maxx Williams, TE
32. New England - Eddie Goldman, DT

Looks solid. Only thing I could see the charges going with a healthy mg3

I think DAL takes Melvin Gordon if Gurley is off the board that early.
Meh.

Am I wrong in the belief that if Kendricks is on the table we have to take him?

I feel that CB is easier to acquire than ILB is for us anyways. I love his speed.

If I were TT and Kendricks was still on the board I'd run to turn in the card.

Could happen for sure, but not a given. I'll take Johnson over Kendricks and grab a ILB in the next 2-3 rounds. But options both ways. Could go Kendricks/ Byron.

Running would be too slow.

I would be fine with it. I like kendricks but think Johnson is a better prospect. If this was last yr with shields and williams both coming off solid years then yea kendricks, but right now we need both a cb and ILB. Imvalue the cb higher.... Unless TT is willing to do make the moves to land jones.

Sorry, but I can't get on board with a 188 pound CB who runs a 4.52 being the better prospect... Hell, Kendricks is 44 pounds heavier and ran a 4.61. Kendricks beat him in the 10 yard split by .02 seconds....

Didn't Joe Haden run high 4.5 and a 4.6 40. He's pretty good. I like the combine as much as anyone but it isnt always about numbers with no pads. I feel cb is more important then ILB in today's game. You can hide your ILB weakness easier then corner weakness. Get after the qb and cover and we will be fine. This is not to say we don't need to improve inside at all.

Johnson was also top 5 In 4 other events at the combine. I would be fine with his 40 time

there are better options at CB later in the draft than there are at ILB unless your just looking for a run stopper, If either of Kendricks or Thompson are available thats big bang for the buck, whoops I mean Will

can you imagine teams trying to pass over the middle with both Mathews and Kendricks/Thompson in those short zones.

wanna play less nickle? thats how you do it.

Haden ran a 4.62 at the combine and a 4.43 at his pro day. Haden was a tackling machine in college. Haden weighed more than 188 pounds. Haden played for Florida.
It isn't all about the numbers, but when you have a thin CB who can't even break 4.5 I think that is a major red flag. He definitely wasn't known for his tackling either. His athleticism is great, his speed not so much. That should have translated to a better 10 yard split as well, it didnt, that concerns me. At 188, when he played more around 180, he is going to struggle mightily to play press. I see a great slot corner. We dont have a pressing need for a slot corner. I would stay away in the first round.
